An immigration DNA test may be provided to help determine a person or persons’ relationship with a family member who legally lives in the United Kingdom. Family members are able to live permanently in the UK if they are a relative of somebody who is already a permanent resident.

You may choose to provide DNA testing in cases where a child is born on foreign soil to a parent or parents who are permanent residents of the UK, in order to allow the child to be granted UK citizenship.

If you choose to provide supporting information to UK Visas & Immigration in the form of a DNA test, our DNA analysis is 99.999% accurate in determining biological ties of family members to UK citizens who are sponsoring their immigration to the UK.

You may choose to conduct a DNA test to support your application through the UK Border Agency (UKBA) or Her Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO).

We will send you a testing kit for you to provide your own samples, which you will have to conduct in the presence of a witness. Taking your own sample is an easy, simple and pain- free process that requires you to rub a swab inside your mouth to collect a sample of cheek cells. In your kit, you will find easy-to-read instructions and a video, which will show you everything you need to know.

For an immigration test, you need to arrange to have your samples taken in the presence of a witness (often a GP, nurse, solicitor or government representative). If you have a letter from UKBA or HMPO, please send us a copy of this letter when you order your test. This will help us to ensure we follow their exact instructions, so that your samples are processed and the results sent to the right people at the right time. If your sample kits need to be sent outside the UK, you will need to pay the postage costs.

If you choose to have a test for immigration purposes, you will also need to send us a copy of your passport, driving licence or birth certificate. You don’t need to send the originals, a clear copy signed by your witness will do.
