KFS eager to hear from future forensic scientists to join our exciting new apprenticeship scheme

Key Forensic Services have committed to unearthing future forensic scientists by investing in an exciting new apprenticeship scheme.

Our apprenticeship scheme is the beginning of a new era for KFS and, riding the wave of National Apprenticeship Week, is perfectly timed.

As of April 2022, KFS will employ three Apprentice Laboratory Technicians to work within our Toxicology Team at our Warrington site.

KFS is keen to commit to offering qualification-based positions, rather than competency only, which means our first apprentices will achieve BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in Applied Science.

Our apprentices will spend two years with KFS, during which they will spend time in our laboratories, learning hands-on experience, with time also allocated for their education. They will be paid a competitive salary and, when their placement ends, be integrated fully into our organisation.

Lucia Gonzalez, Production Quality Lead on our Toxicology Team at Warrington, said: “I am very excited to be welcoming our first apprentices to the KFS Toxicology Team.

“We have a great team of experienced scientists willing to share their knowledge and experience, and a specialist training organisation, to ensure our new apprentices will have all the support needed to achieve their goals.

“I am confident this will be the start of a successful and long career for these future forensic scientists.”

KFS HR Director, Janet Hulme, added: “I am delighted that Key Forensic Services will be employing and developing our first scientific apprentices.

“For those young people who do not want to go to university, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn all about forensic science on the job and gain a recognised qualification, all while earning a salary.

“It is a chance to start their early career in forensic science and to carve out a professional occupation for themselves. It will be a privilege to watch them learn and grow.”

KFS will be working closely with CSR Group, who are the leading scientific training provider in the UK.

CSR Group has a wealth of experience in delivering quality scientific and healthcare apprenticeships and training since it was founded in 2006. Their dedicated team of lecturers have strong industrial and academic backgrounds in the forensic, biology, physics, chemistry and biotechnology sectors.
