Our forensic investigations can lead us to, among other outcomes, establish if poisoning
could have been a causative factor in deaths; determine if there has been an unlawful
administration of a substance by a third party, for example in suspicious deaths or cases
involving drug-facilitated crimes such as rape/sexual assault or robbery; establish the
presence of substances that may affect an individual’s behaviour or ability to make a
rational or reasoned judgement, such as driving while under the influence of drugs and/or
alcohol; and providing evidence in cases where parents may be denied access to their
children on the basis of a history of drug/alcohol abuse, where continued abuse may endanger
the welfare of the child.
