KFS attends University of South Wales Science Futures event

KFS enjoyed a really useful and insightful day at the University of South Wales Science Futures event.

We attended the event to meet students in their final year – it was a fantastic opportunity for them to explore the forensic science sector, meet employers and discover some amazing graduate opportunities.

We were able to talk to them about the reality of working in Forensic Science, compared to completing the course at university, and one thing we heard quite often was: “It’s nothing like CSI: Miami”.

The reality of forensic science is, of course, completely different to that portrayed on TV, and the students were keen to hear how the skills they have learned on their course can be taken into the world of day-to-day forensics.

We were really pleased to answer a variety of questions, from what interviews can look like to walking through what a day in the life in a lab can look like. Hopefully, the knowledge and experience we shared will stand them in good stead for the future.

A big thank you to South Wales University for accommodating us on the day, it was a pleasure to be there.
